Below is a schedule for registration and voting in the May 4 Primary. For detailed information on the voting process in Watauga County, visit the Watauga County Board of Elections (BOE) website at www.wataugacounty.org/elections Other contact information for the BOE is listed below.

Absentee voting began March 15! You may request absentee ballots now through April 27. Absentee ballots are due at the Board of Elections on Monday, May 3.

Friday, April 9 is the deadline for voter registration for the May 4 primary. You may obtain a voter registration form at the board of elections or download and print a form from the BOE website. Please note that you must update your registration if you have moved within the county since you first registered, if you have changed your name, or if you wish to change party affiliation. If you are changing information on your driver’s license, you may also update your voter registration at the Highway Patrol office on Bamboo Road. PLEASE NOTE THAT IF YOU WILL BE 18 YEARS OF AGE BY THE GENERAL ELECTION DATE OF NOVEMBER 2, YOU MAY REGISTER NOW AND VOTE IN THE PRIMARY. Please inform families of young people who may meet this criteria.

One-stop voting begins on April 15 and ends at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 1.
